Lise Plamondon, CPB

Tell us about yourself.

In June 2025, I founded FreeWing Bookkeeping Inc. with the primary goal of providing women+ entrepreneurs with the clarity, peace of mind, and guidance that come from having a trusted bookkeeping partner. It has been a joy and privilege to serve Alberta women+ entrepreneurs as they grow their businesses.

How has the CPB designation benefited your career?

The CPB has been instrumental in both my professional and business development through on-demand learning and in-person events. The achievement of my CPB designation provides clients with the added assurance that I not only meet the national standard for professional bookkeepers in Canada, but that I also adhere to CPB Canada’s Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct.

What does success look like for you?

Success is doing what I love, with people I love, making a big difference, being compensated appropriately, and having time for other passions.

What does a day in the life look like for you?

My typical day allows me to ease into my morning with flexibility exercises and a time of reflection and intention setting. I review my calendar and what came in overnight. I prepare for my meetings and then start working on files. I aim to have at least one virtual or in-person connection each day to boost my energy. I wrap up my day between 4 and 5 pm.

Do you have any advice for aspiring bookkeepers?

  • Enroll in formal training and obtain your CPB Designation.
  • Gain as much and as diverse bookkeeping experience as you can before going out on your own.
  • Develop connections with bookkeeping and accounting peers.

How can bookkeepers collectively advocate for their role in the success of businesses?

Educate businesses on the difference between accountants and bookkeepers and demonstrate how you can be a trusted bookkeeping partner that is integral to their business’s success.
