Kirti Kaur, CPB

A Journey Fueled by Passion and Perseverance

Supervisor, Fuller Landau LLP

Toronto, Ontario

For Kirti Kaur, bookkeeping has been both a career and a calling. Originally from India, Kirti’s academic background in accounting paved the way for her future in the field. When she moved to Canada, she expanded on her knowledge by pursuing a bookkeeping certification at Humber College, where her prior education earned her advanced standing.

Her first professional step in Canada was as a staff accountant at a small Toronto-based firm. Over five years, she gained valuable experience managing client accounts and mastering various bookkeeping software. Reflecting on this time, Kirti shares, “I got good exposure to different software and handled bookkeeping for multiple clients.” This solid foundation led her to Fuller Landau LLP, where she began as an Intermediate Bookkeeper. After three years of dedication and growth, she was recently promoted to Supervisor on the outsourcing team.

The Value of the CPB Designation

Although Kirti was already excelling in her role, she felt the desire to deepen her expertise. Inspired by colleagues and encouraged by her manager, she pursued the Certified Professional Bookkeeper (CPB) designation. “Although it took some time to get it done, I really believe that it was well worth the effort in the end,” she says. The designation not only strengthened her knowledge but also added credibility to her work and her team.

What Drives Success

Kirti’s passion for her work and dedication to her team are key motivators. “I really love what I do. My team motivates me to perform better,” she explains. Whether helping clients solve problems, supporting her colleagues, or contributing to business growth, Kirti thrives on making an impact. She credits her manager and team for fostering her professional development, noting, “My manager has helped me grow within the team to where I am today.”

A Typical Day in an Extraordinary Career

Each day in Kirti’s role as Supervisor is unique and challenging. She begins with a team meeting to align on tasks and deadlines. Then, her day shifts to managing internal emails, reviewing client files, and ensuring compliance with deadlines like month-end reconciliations, GST filings, and payroll processing. Client interactions are a regular feature as she works to resolve issues and maintain relationships. She describes her work as dynamic: “There is a new challenge every day, which keeps one learning regularly.”
